Industry-based Adult Education & Employment

DeLamie Culinary Arts program prepares students with mild intellectual and learning disabilities to integrate into employment in the food & beverage industry and to facilitate their transition with continued support.

Our students gain theoretical and practical skills while learning in cutting-edge labs and real-world settings with the latest kitchen technology and equipment.

Work Placement

We provide qualified students with the possibility of paid internships at our DeLamie Bakery which is led by our celebrity Executive Chef, Jeff Finkelstein.

Through this internship, students gain practical work experience, preparing them for the job market and enabling them to ultimately achieve their employment goals.

Holistic Approach

Our DeLamie Culinary Arts Training Program follows the Social Integration Services Program set by the Ministry of Education which is designed to help the student acquire the necessary skills to be able to integrate and participate in society to their fullest potential. This includes:

  • Problem-Solving Skills

  • Communication Skills (Verbal and Non-Verbal)

  • Personal and Social Skills

  • Psychomotor Skills

  • Life Skills

  • Family Skills

  • Work Skills

  • Relationship & Sex Education

  • Diet and Personal Care

Our Staff

Our Chef instructors come to us from within the industry with many having trained and worked in the finest establishments. Smaller class sizes and trained volunteers allow for individual attention and an environment that optimizes their success.
